ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified

I am using Ubuntu and installed the Oracle 10g client to connect to remote servers. I was getting ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified error whenever i was trying to log in. From my windows box I could log in without any problem. The tnsnames.ora was also the same. Finally I figured out that the issue was with my password. My password had '@' in it and that was preventing it from logging in. I changed the password and it worked fine.
